  • What are the criteria for curation?
    The curation is done on the basis of a number of things primarily focusing on: cultural relevance, technical execution, conceptual engagement, stylistic flair and flexibility in adaptation to products. 
    • What is the difference between Exclusive and Curated Artists? 

    Exclusive artists are Little Joy Studios exclusive marquee Indian & International Graphic Artists who receive a host of value added services including higher artist fees i.e. 25% , first preference for B2Bs etc.

    Curated artists are emerging Indian artists based in India or internationally. Their artist fees are 20% of the MRP. This label was created to accommodate such artists who are new to Little Joy Studios and like to wet their feet first. With time and experience, they move to the Exclusive label.

     

    Are there more labels within the Little Joy Studios?

    • We also have the Brands By Artists label, where we stock the merch produced by the artist themselves. The percentage of share on MRP is different from that of the Exclusive and Curated artists. It is 65% for the artist and 35% for Little Joy Studios.

    • If I become an Exclusive artist can I have different artworks on another platform?

    Joining the Exclusive label means that you’re exclusive with Little Joy Studios and will not have your artworks on any other India-based platform. International platforms such as Society6 are exempt from this. 

     

    • Can I still participate in and hold exhibitions, art fairs and charity events under the Exclusive label?

    Yes, you absolutely can! Do let us know beforehand whether you’re planning to participate in such events, we would love to promote your work!

    Indian Artists and International Artists are paid through – Paypal / NEFT / Bank Transfer

     

    • What is artwork licensing?

    Artwork Licensing is what helps an artist protect their artworks and makes sure that their hard work isn’t being ripped off by a copycat. It helps you create and maintain your brand as an artist.

     

    • What is the difference between upfront and variable fees?

    An up-front fee is the amount paid by Little Joy Studios to the artist for an artwork. Variable fees are the percentage share earned by the artist on MRP of the product. These fees depend on the commercial classification of an artwork.

     

    What are indirect fees?

    • Indirect fees are paid to the artist when sales occur through third party retailers. In this case, the artist fees are halved— Exclusive Artists earn 12.5% and Curated Artists earn 10%.

     

    Can artists who live outside of India become an artist on Little Joy Studios?

      • Yes, As long as you are Indian. We have some artists on the platform who live outside India.
